RYUKYU ISLANDS, 1960, 9c on 4y Brown, Air Post, Legend Only, Surcharge Transposed (C19d, C19c). Mint N.H. top left corner selvage block of four, top stamps lacking "9c" of surchargeEXTREMELY FINE. THE UNIQUE TOP LEFT CORNER MARGIN BLOCK OF FOUR WITH THE TOP TWO STAMPS SHOWING LEGEND OF SURCHARGE ONLY AND THE BOTTOM STAMPS WITH SURCHARGE TRANSPOSED. A HIGHLY EXHIBITABLE ITEM.
This error came about due to an 8.5mm downward shift in the overprinting of a single sheet, thus reversing the order of the lines of the surcharge. The top row shows the legend only without the "9c" of the surcharge, and the remainder of the sheet shows the surcharge transposed.
