PHILIPPINES, 1899, 10c Orange Brown, Ty. II (217A). Top imprint and plate no. 1338 block of six, original gum, lightly hinged, pretty shade, few minor perf separations sensibly reinforcedFINE. A SCARCE TOP IMPRINT AND PLATE NUMBER BLOCK OF THE 10-CENT TYPE II WITH PHILIPPINES OVERPRINT.
The 10c Type II is one of the scarcest of the Philippines 1899 Overprinted Issue in plate block form. We have offered one other from the top position, with similar size selvage, in the Whitpain collection (Sale 969, lot 1169, realized $5,000 hammer)
