Buff cover bearing U.S. 3c Rose (65) and C.S.A. 10c Greenish Blue, Die A (11c), latter with huge margins, both tied together by bold blue open grid cancel, 10c stamp also tied by matching "Sandusky O. Nov. 4" (1863) circular datestamp on cover to Richmond Va., manuscript "Examined D. S. Alexander" by DeAlva S. Alexander of the 128th Ohio (known from Sep. 14, 1863-Nov. 17, 1864), endorsed "Flag of Truce Boat via Fortress Monroe", soldier's endorsement at top by Lt. John Hampden Chamberlayne and "U.S." on the 3c stamp blotted out by Chamberlayne as with others known from his correspondence, hole punch at top left, backflap repair and sealed tear at top just into soldier's endorsement, still Very Fine, a beautiful prisoner's cover with an Extremely Fine Confederate States stamp, accompanied by background information on Chamberlayne
