HAWAII, 1863, 2c Black, Grayish (18 var). Plate 5-Ax, Type IX (Westerberg Position 9), margins to clear, grid cancel, small repair at bottom rightFINE APPEARANCE. A RARE EXAMPLE OF THE 1863 2-CENT BLACK FIFTH-SETTING NUMERAL ISSUE ON GRAYISH PAPER.
The Scott Catalogue lists this on Blue Gray paper, and only a small number are recorded on Grayish paper. The last we offered was in our 1995 Honolulu Advertiser sale (one example).
