Sale 1061, Lot 3366, 1c-3c 1851-56 Issue (Scott 5A-11A)3c Orange Brown, Ty. II (10A). Jumbo margins with portions of five surrounding stamps, absolutely gorgeous color complemented by bold red "New-York" circular datestamp and French transit datestamp, wonderfully fresh

EXTREMELY FINE GEM. THIS SUPERB USED EXAMPLE OF THE 1851 3-CENT ORANGE BROWN IS ONE OF THE FINEST WE HAVE ENCOUNTERED. A TRULY SPECTACULAR STAMP IN EVERY RESPECT.

With 2013 P.S.E. certificate (Superb 98 Jumbo; unpriced in SMQ above the grade of 98, $2,450.00 as 98). Only one other stamp shares this grade and one has been graded higher (this stamp should have been graded 100). The other 98J was offered in our sale of the Nick Kirke collection and, while Superb, is not as visually striking as this stamp with the red New York and French datestamps
