5c Chocolate (223). Rich color, used with Chinkiang 1894, 1c Blue (2), both stamps tied by "U.S. Postal Agency, Shanghai, Dec. 1, 1894" duplex datestamp and oval grid, 1c also tied by "Chinkiang Postal Service 5PM 94 29.V" double-circle datestamp, on cover to Decatur Ga. and forwarded to Syracuse N.Y., endorsed "pr. Empress of India", range of backstamps incl. Chinkiang, San Francisco, Atlanta and receiving, minor edgewearVERY FINE. AN ATTRACTIVE AND VERY RARE MIXED FRANKING OF THE 1894 ONE-CENT CHINKIANG TREATY PORT ISSUE AND THE UNITED STATES 5-CENT 1890 ISSUE.
The U.S. 5c stamp correctly pays the rate to the United States, and the Chianking Treaty Port 1c stamp paid for delivery to the U.S. Postal Agency in Shanghai.
