5c Red Brown (1). Large margins to clear, used with G. Carter's Despatch, Philadelphia Pa., (2c) Black (36L1), large margins to just in, both stamps tied by blue "Philada. Pa. 5cts." integral-rate circular datestamp, second strike at right, on buff cover to Bridgeton N.J., the Carter's with additional manuscript cancel as alwaysVERY FINE. AN EXCEEDINGLY RARE EXAMPLE OF THE CARTER'S LOCAL POST STAMP USED WITH THE 1847 ISSUE. ESPECIALLY DESIRABLE WITH BOTH STAMPS TIED BY THE PHILADELPHIA DATESTAMP.
In total we record fewer than six combinations of the 5c 1847 Issue and the G. Carter's local. This is the first such combination we have offered since keeping computerized records. The Philatelic Foundation has certified two others, but the locals were not tied.
