Positions 14-15, horizontal pair, large margins all around, detailed impression, cancelled by red "Paid" arc, third strike at right, matching "New York 10cts. Apr. 30" integral-rate circular datestamp with bar between month and day on blue 1847 folded cover to Greensboro Ala.

EXTREMELY FINE. A BEAUTIFUL AND RARE PAIR OF THE 5-CENT NEW YORK POSTMASTER'S PROVISIONAL ISSUE ON GRAY PAPER.

This style of New York cancel, with the bar between the month and date and with the rate straight instead of contoured to the rim of the circular datestamp, was used late in the life of the New York Postmaster's Provisional.
