New York N.Y., 5c Black, Plate Reconstruction (9X1, 9X1a, 9X1b, 9X1e). Complete reconstruction of all 40 positions, including two without signature, two with Small A.C.M. with Periods, 22 with ACM connected and 14 AC M, many have four margins but some are slightly in, range of cancels including red grids, blue or black pen, few with red "Paid" handstamp, faults to be expected in most stampsFINE-VERY FINE APPEARANCE. A SCARCE RECONSTRUCTION OF THE PLATE OF 40 OF THE NEW YORK POSTMASTER'S PROVISIONAL.
All of the issued New York provisional stamps come from the single engraved plate of 40, made up of eight horizontal rows of five. Over the two-year period that the stamps were valid, 143,600 were delivered, including the stamps on Blue and Gray papers from the last printing in 1847.
