Block of 30 comprising the top three rows of the left pane of 100, showing imprint at top and full sheet margins at top and left, incredible depth of colorEXTREMELY FINE. A SPECTACULAR IMPRINT BLOCK OF 30 OF THE 24-CENT 1861 ISSUE CARD PROOFS FROM THE LILLY SHEETS, COMPRISING THE TOP THREE ROWS OF THE LEFT PANE.
The Siegel firm auctioned the Lilly India and card proof sheets in September 1967. One set of panes remains complete in a private collection. The other panes were broken up, and this top block of 30 originates from those panes.
