Each approximately 80 x 60mm, each with die alignment marks at all four sides and each with blue BEP control number on front, few small thin spotsVERY FINE APPEARANCE. THE UNIQUE "SOUTHGATE" SET OF LARGE DIE PROOFS ON WOVE PAPER OF THE PAN-AMERICAN ISSUE. A PHENOMENAL RARITY.
According to an article by Clarence Brazer, "this set on wove paper, untrimmed and with each proof printer's number thereon, was apparently the third of three sets printed. The other two sets, up to the 1933 Century of Progress only, were trimmed to small die proofs about -3/16 inch margins and mounted on loose leaf pages -- One set of four albums was given to F.D. Roosevelt -- and a duplicate set is said to have been presented to a friend and has not become available to philatelists." One of the two reduced sets was presented as a gift to The Philatelic Foundation circa 1957 and was deaccessioned in 1973.
