CAPE OF GOOD HOPE, MAFEKING, 1900, 2sh on 1sh Green (177; SG 16). Rich color, tied by "Mafeking C.G.H. ? 17, 1900" circular datestamp on small piece, fresh and Very Fine, the siege of Mafeking was lifted on May 17, 1900 when British forces fought their way in to relieve the city, unfortunately we cannot make out the month of the cancel but it may have been cancelled on this day, with 1985 P.F. certificate, SG £600
