TG, large margins to clear incl. part of adjoining stamp at right, tied by Maltese Cross, "York JY 27, 1841" backstamp on Fores's Racing Envelope No. 5" caricature cover to Lancashire, red "Escriche" straightline backstamp, some slight toning affects stamp and coverVERY FINE APPEARANCE. A RARE EXAMPLE OF THE PENNY BLACK USED ON A FORES'S RACING ENVELOPE. APPROXIMATELY EIGHT USED EXAMPLES OF THIS DESIGN ARE KNOWN, AND ONLY TWO OR THREE ARE USED WITH THE PENNY BLACK.
