12c Dull Violet, H. Grill (140). Remarkably darker shade and stronger grill impression than typically encountered, nicely centered, circle of wedges cancel highlights the depressed points of the grill, thus authenticating it, small tear at bottom left, otherwise Very Fine, this stamp belies the conventional wisdom that all 12c 1870 Grill stamps must be a light shade of Violet and have a weak grill impression, with 1992 P.F. certificate
