Block of four from Plate 12, Reliefs A/B, top stamps Type II, bottom stamps Type IIIa, bottom stamps with wide breaks at bottom and faint outer lines at top (almost qualifying as Type III), original gum, lightly hinged, radiant color, right stamps light vertical bendsFINE. A BEAUTIFUL AND SCARCE COMBINATION BLOCK OF FOUR OF TYPES II AND IIIa FROM PLATE 12.
According to the Neinken book, Plate 12 originally contained 99 Type I and 101 Type II stamps. On some positions erasures were made, and in some cases the outer lines wore away, causing some to become Type IIIa. Only one position is known to have worn at both top and bottom causing Type III (46L12).
With copy of 1978 P.F. certificate. Scott Catalogue does not list combination pairs from Plate 12. Scott Retail as pair of Type II and pair of Type IIIa.
