90c Black, First Design, Large Die Essay on India (72-E7b; formerly 62TC1). Die sunk on 140 x 229mm card with full die sinkage, "447" and imprint at bottom, layout lines around the design, from a salesman's book and retaining the original binding and tissue paper interleaving, toned spots fall outside of die sinkage area, Very Fine appearance, a rare "Premiere Gravure" die essay in Black, the Finkelburg collection contained only a cut down hybrid, and the example in the Brazer sale was defective, the Lake Shore collection did not contain an example (it had a No. 72 trial color proof misidentified as 72-E7b)
