10c Brown, Ty. I (282C). Mint N.H.., radiant color on bright paper, unusually wide margins for this issueEXTREMELY FINE. A BEAUTIFUL MINT NEVER-HINGED EXAMPLE OF THE 1898 10-CENT BROWN TYPE I ISSUE. THIS STAMP HAS BEEN AWARDED THE GRADE OF XF-SUPERB 95 BY P.S.E.
The 10c was changed from Green (Scott No. 273) to Brown because the 1c denomination (Scott No. 279) was changed to Green to meet the UPU color scheme.
Ex Scarsdale. With 1980, 1999 P.F. and 2004 P.S.E. certificates (XF-Superb 95; SMQ $5,100.00). Only two have graded higher and two others share this grade.
