1c Blue, Ty. II, IIIa (7, 8A). Virtually complete reconstruction of the right pane of Plate 1 Early, lacking only eleven positions to be complete (including one 5, six No. 5A and four others originally on cover), a total of 114 stamps which includes 25 overlapping in multiples, 23 are plated as Type IIIa, others Type II, range of cancels including grids in black, blue and red, circular datestamps with one in red and nine in blue, generally decent margins with several showing sheet margin, variable quality but well above the usual standard for such a rare plate reconstruction

A MONUMENTAL RECONSTRUCTION OF THE RIGHT PANE OF PLATE ONE EARLY. THIS IS ARGUABLY THE MOST IMPORTANT PANE IN CLASSIC UNITED STATES PHILATELY, PRODUCING SUCH LEGENDARY RARITIES AS THE ONE-CENT 1851 TYPE I AND Ib IMPERFORATE. THIS RECONSTRUCTION WAS ASSEMBLED BY STANLEY B. ASHBROOK, WHOSE PIONEERING WORK ON THE ONE-CENT 1851-57 ISSUE CREATED THE FOUNDATION FOR FUTURE SPECIALISTS.
