Sale 1026, Lot 2118, Foreign Stamps and Covers: India thru Western AustraliaINDIA, 1897, Tirah Expedition. 2a6p entire cancelled by neat strike of "Field P.O. No. 13, 20 Dec. 97" circular datestamp and addressed to Guildford, Surrey, England, receiving backstamp of Jan. 7, 1898, some slight edgewear, Very Fine, according to Wikipedia, the Afridi tribe, which was receiving a subsidy from the government of British India for the safeguarding of the Khyber Pass, rose up and captured all the posts in the Khyber held by their own countrymen, and attacked the forts on the Samana Range near the city of Peshawar, the British mounted the expedition in October and full capitulation was not achieved until after the winter snows had cleared, a 1960 article in The Philatelist stated that no covers are known from Field Post Offices 10, 13 and 35, this may be unique
