Nov. 2, 1917, 3c World War I Rate. Eight covers, franked with 1c, 2c or 3c stamps paying the new World War I rate of 3c per ounce, most with corner cards, a few flaws but overall Very Fine, a nice group of first day of rate covers and not often seen in this quantity, the 3c rate was adopted in response to the needs of the U.S. war effort and represented a two-year interruption to an otherwise continuous 49-year period of 2c rates
