Folded cover with docketing on back "Sept. 1st 1773" and addressed to Dr. Thomas Burke near Hillsborough, small manuscript "6d" rate, manuscript "taken out of the Post Office at Newbern and postage paid by A. Miller" on side flap, vertical file folds, Very Fine, a very unusual use, the 6d rate (2dwt equivalent) paid the rate from Wilmington to New Bern where it was then carried privately to destination, ex Siskin
