New Haven, Conn. 5c Provisional Reprints (8XU1R vars). 27 items on quadrille pages, clearly identified as to printing, consisting mostly of scarce to rare early printings including two of the extremely rare early 1870’s with black signature (one with affidavit from a friend of Mitchell swearing that he received the item from Mitchell before his death), seven of the 1871 or 1872 without signature, five of the 1874 with blue signature, nine without signature identified as 1876 including two in an unsevered pair, one with "1923" handstamp, 1932 final reprints signed in blue and black, two entires with facsimile signatures, fantastic range of papers and shades, mostly large margins, few small flaws to be expectedVERY FINE. A WONDERFUL AND RARE GROUP OF NEW HAVEN POSTMASTER'S PROVISIONAL REPRINTS. ESPECIALLY DESIRABLE WITH THE PRINTINGS CLEARLY IDENTIFIED.
