10c Brown (161). Horizontal pair, bright color, tied by segmented corks, matching "Yokohama, Japan, Sep. 1?" circular datestamp on small 1874 cover to Lyon, France, routed thru the United States with "San Francisco Cal. Oct. 4" circular datestamp, red "New York Paid Oct. 13" and French transits, stamps also tied by boxed "P.D." handstamp, receiving backstamp, fresh and Very Fine, scarce and desirable use from Japan to France, carried by the Colorado which arrived in San Francisco Oct. 3, receipt docketing indicates contents were written Aug. 17 so this must have missed the August sailing and been held for a month in Yokohama
