Bright color, tied by negative star cancel, matching "Yokohama, Japan Jul. 22" circular datestamp on small 1870 cover to San Francisco Cal., endorsed "Per S S Japan" at upper left and carried aboard that Pacific Mail Steamship which arrived in San Francisco Aug. 12, some edge flaws, split on all sides and reattached with hinges, still Very Fine, scarce use of the double-grill stamp on cover from Japan, with 1981 P.F. certificate
