Sale 1017, Lot 233, 3c 1851-56, Imprint and Plate No. Reconstruction (Scott 11-11A)3c Red (Shades), Ty. I, II, Imprint and Plate No. Reconstruction (11-11A). Complete imprint and plate no. reconstruction for each of the imperforate plates used to print the 3c 1851 Dull Red Issue (no Orange Brown No. 10 plates), including Plates 1L, 2L, 3, 4, 5L, 6, 7 (only a handful of plate no. singles known) and 8, 64 stamps plus several additional as parts of pairs, one position from from Plate 7 is a cover (with part imprint and "7"), stamps were chosen with large enough margins to ensure that none of the plate numbers are cut off, majority of cancels are handstamps with some manuscript, some flaws to be expected in such a reconstruction

FINE-VERY FINE APPEARANCE. A SPECTACULAR AND RARE COMPLETE RECONSTRUCTION OF THE 1851 3-CENT DULL RED PLATE IMPRINTS AND NUMBERS.

Most of the few complete plate reconstructions that exist contain margin copies that cut off at least parts of the imprints, and especially parts or all of the plate numbers. For the collector who wishes to own the complete representation of imprints and plate numbers -- the best parts of a 3c plate reconstruction -- this is a wonderful opportunity and is more easily exhibitable.
