3c Dull Red, Ty. III (26). Two covers, first cancelled by pen "X" (not tied), "Johnson S.C. May 20" (1861) manuscript postmark on 7-Star Confederate Patriotic cover to Longmire's Store S.C., stamp with couple tiny flaws and light soiling, otherwise Very Fine, a scarce Confederate use of a U.S. stamp on a Confederate patriotic cover, ex Mason, Kohn, Bleuler, second cover also pen-cancelled (stamp defective), "Greenwood Md. May 3, 1861" manuscript postmark on 7-Star Confederate Patriotic cover to Memphis Tenn., similar but slightly different design than first cover, light soiling, appears Fine, a desirable Confederate patriotic used from a southern sympathizer in a small Baltimore County, Maryland town, sent south at some risk as this was one week after Lincoln suspended habeas corpus in Maryland, with 1975 C.S.A. and 1984 P.F. certificates, a wonderful matched pair of Confederate patriotics
