(Portsmouth N.H., 1762) "P Sh dwt. gr. 4.16". Ms. due marking on folded letter datelined "Port of St. Ann's, In the Island of Grandterra, May 8th 1762" in Guadeloupe and addressed to Dunham Conn., endorsed "favor of Capt. Ledyard via N. London" but apparently not sent this way, rate at lower left for currency equivalent due, small repair at right, otherwise Very Fine, scarce, most markings from Portsmouth at this time were Piscatagua, this use of the Portsmouth "P" with the ship letter designation may be unique
