II (thinner letters and serifed "Wash") "Port Townsend, Wash. Oct. 4, 1883" Kicking Mule duplex cancel, addressed to the Surgeon General U.S. Army in Washington, D.C., official purple receiving oval at left, 6c tied by perfect bold Ty. I (thicker letters, "Wash" without serifs) "Port Townsend Wash. Jan. 14, 1881" Kicking Mule duplex cancel, ms. "O.B.", addressed to "Seed Growers and Merchants" in Philadelphia, some cover aging, few tears and piece added at top, 2c normal aging for a cover of this size and age, very presentable appearance, these two covers represent two of the three known franked Departmental covers with Kicking Mule cancels, rare lot
