3c Rose, C. Grill (83). Original gum, nicely centered, clearly defined grill, light pencil notation on gumFINE AND SCARCE ORIGINAL-GUM EXAMPLE OF THE 1867 3-CENT C GRILL.

1c Blue, F. Grill (92). Gorgeous centering with wide and balanced margins, rich color and proof-like impression on bright paper, neat strike of San Francisco cogwheel cancelEXTREMELY FINE GEM. A MAGNIFICENT USED EXAMPLE OF THE 1868 ONE-CENT F GRILL. A SCARCE STAMP IN SUCH SUPERB CONDITION.
With 1996 P.F. and 2008 P.S.E. certificates (XF-Superb 95; SMQ $4,950.00). Only three have graded higher to date and only three others share this grade.
1c Blue, F. Grill (92). Brilliant color, crisp impression, face-free strike of circular datestamp leaves entire design clearly visible, well-balanced margins, Extremely Fine, a beautiful stamp, with 1991 and 2008 P.F. certificates
1c Blue, F. Grill (92). Pretty pastel shade on bright paper, trace of red cancel, well-balanced margins, Very Fine and choice, with 2006 P.S.E. certificate (VF-XF 85; SMQ $920.00)

10c Yellow Green, F. Grill (96). Unused (regummed), deep rich color, wide margins, Extremely Fine, with 1989 and 2003 P.F. certificates as original gum and 2008 P.S.E. certificate as regummed (VF-XF 85; SMQ $1,450.00), in our opinion, it is very possible that this is really original gum which has been moved around on the entire stamp after having an old hinge removed, giving the stamp a "regummed" appearance
12c Black, F. Grill (97). Original gum, lightly hinged, almost perfectly centered with remarkably wide margins all around capturing the characteristic plate burrs of 12c 1868 grills, intense shade and impression, clearly-defined grill, reperfed right and bottom, Extremely Fine appearance, with clean 1986 P.F. certificate and 2008 P.F. certificate mentioning the reperfing

24c Gray Lilac, F. Grill (99). Remarkably well-centered, strong color and bold quartered cork cancel, tiny toned spots top right and bottom left, otherwise Extremely Fine, with 2006 P.F. certificate which mentions the toning spots, which in our opinion are just about imaginary
30c Orange, F. Grill (100). Bright color, clearly-defined grill, bold strikes of segmented cork and also matching "Yokohama, Japan" circular datestamp, one perf with tiny filled thin (not mentioned on accompanying certificate), Very Fine appearance, a rare use from the U.S. Post Office in Japan, with 2000 P.F. certificate (submitted as Hiogo, Japan in error)
30c Orange, F. Grill (100). Brilliant color, absolutely Jumbo margins at sides, bold segmented cork and part of red transit cancels, reperfed at right, Extremely Fine appearance, a huge stamp
90c Blue, F. Grill (101). Unused (no gum), three exceptionally wide margins, ample at right, beautiful centering, deep rich colorVERY FINE AND CHOICE. A SCARCE AND EXTREMELY ATTRACTIVE UNUSED EXAMPLE OF THE 1868 90-CENT F GRILL.
A review using Power Search reveals the rarity of this issue in sound, unused condition. We have offered only six completely sound examples, with or without gum during the last eight years.
