Without gum as issued, rich color and detailed impression on bright paper, scissors-separated as almost always but with perfs intact on three sides, choice centeringEXTREMELY FINE. A BEAUTIFUL AND RARE SOUND EXAMPLE OF THE ONE-CENT 1875 CONTINENTAL BANK NOTE COMPANY SPECIAL PRINTING.
Our census of Scott 167 contains 49 examples, including one in the Miller collection owned by The New York Public Library, leaving 48 available to collectors. Of these, fewer than ten have perforations all around.

2c Dark Brown, Special Printing (168). Without gum as issued, deep rich color, full perforations all around VERY FINE. A RARE EXAMPLE OF THE 1875 2-CENT CONTINENTAL BANK NOTE SPECIAL PRINTING WITH PERFORATIONS ALL AROUND.
Our census of Scott 168 contains 62 examples. Many have perfs scissors-trimmed on at least one side and many have perforations into the design. The example offered here, without obvious scissors cutting, is a condition rarity.

Without gum as issued, full perforations all around without the usual scissors-separation, well-centered with nicely balanced margins, brilliant colorVERY FINE. Our census of Scott 171 contains 76 examples, including one in the Miller collection owned by The New York Public Library, leaving 75 available to collectors. Most stamps were scissors-separated, affecting the perforations on at least one side.

12c Dark Violet, Special Printing (173). Without gum as issued, deep rich color on bright paper, full perforations all around without the usual scissors-separation A FINE AND ATTRACTIVE EXAMPLE OF THE 12-CENT 1875 CONTINENTAL BANK NOTE COMPANY SPECIAL PRINTING WITH INTACT PERFORATIONS ALL AROUND.
Our census of Scott 173 contains 73 examples, including one in the Miller collection owned by The New York Public Library, leaving 72 available to collectors. Many are scissors-separated on at least one side, either cutting into the perforations or causing straight edge. The example offered here, with full perforations all around and not showing any evidence of scissors-separation, is a rarity.

30c Greenish Black, Special Printing (176). Without gum as issued, scissors-separated perfs as usual with complete perfs on three sides and partially complete at bottom, intense shade and impression, outstanding centering with balanced marginsEXTREMELY FINE CENTERING. Our census of Scott 176 contains 50 examples, including one in the Miller collection owned by The New York Public Library. Of these, fewer than ten have perforations on all four sides. This example, with nearly full perforations and choice centering is very desirable.
Census no. 176-UNC-50. With 2009 P.S.E. certificate (VG 50). The numerical grade of this stamp is absurdly over-affected by the scissors-separation.
