BELGIUM, 1861, 1c Green (9). Large margins to full, tied by "73" in 17-bar grid, "Herbesthal 1-4 1862" backstamp, also with 1862 Liege circular datestamp, on folded cover to Bleyberg, ms. "3" due marking and "2f50" at lower left, stamp with light corner crease at top right, horizontal file fold well away from stamp, Very Fine, scarce use of the single 1c stamp which was intended for prepayment of newspapers and printed matter
BELGIUM, 1861, 40c Vermilion (12). Horizontal strip of three, margins to in, used with 20c Blue 11) and tied by "N1" in grid on 1861 folded letter to New York, neat "Anvers" boxed handstamp, neat "Nord 19-4 1861" double-circle datestamp and boxed "PD" handstamp, red "N. York Br. Pkt., Paid 27 May 1?" credit circular datestamp, Ostende and "Br. Packet" backstamps, horizontal file folds do not affect stamps which show light creasing from gum, Fine appearance

Two covers, first 1898 cover franked with pair No. 66 and singles No. 75 and 78 paying UPU rate to Bordeaux, France, Montreal flag cancel, inconsequential small tear at left edge, second an 1899 post card franked with No. 75 to Lancaster Mass., both with red, white and blue United States flag and "Maine" memorial design, "Canada Memorabilis" inscription, Very Fine, attractive pair of Canadian covers showing solidarity with its neighbor in the Spanish-American War

FRANCE, 1862, 80c Lake, Re-Issue (19c; Yvert 17). Block of four, original gum, lightly hinged, large margins all around, distinctive color which is remarkably freshEXTREMELY FINE. A BEAUTIFUL SOUND ORIGINAL-GUM BLOCK OF FOUR OF THE 1862 RE-ISSUE OF THE 80-CENTIMES NAPOLEON III ISSUE.
