Cancellation Collection and Accumulation. Over 2,000 used stamps in one thick binder, primarily 1c-3c Large Bank Notes but also incl. some 3c 1851-61's, a rather interesting group of 1c and 2c 1890-93 Small Bank Notes, 2c First Bureaus, a few 2c Columbians and some early Postage Dues, generally the cancellations are the usually seen Numerals, Grids, Targets, Colored and Odd Corks but there still is a fairly decent amount of better Fancy Cancels scattered throughout, largely Fine-Very Fine, a real "old time" hoard and not often seen offered for sale at auction, a real cancellation collector's paradise

Cancellation Collection, 1890-98. 63 used stamps, 35 from the 1890-93 Small Bank Note Issue, balance from the Bureau era, virtually all Fancy Type cancellations, apparently all different, incl. a really nice array of Stars, some Letters, Maltese Crosses, Shield, Wheel of Fortune, Geometrics, Mask or Jack-O-Lantern, "CAR 1" in oval grid, and others, generally Fine-Very Fine, this later period of Fancy Cancels is more limited in scope and considerably more difficult to find due to the heavy use of ordinary machine cancels in this period

"Investment" Portfolio. Over 30 items purchased by the owner from several different sources for over $20,000, incl. 3c 1861, 1c-50c Columbian, 1c-$2.00 Trans-Mississippi, 25c Honey Bee error No. 2281b, 1c Jefferson coil pair freak centering, four 1984 Kittinger Trans-Atlantic Balloon Flight covers (2,992 carried) and four Angola 15k Dale Earnhart sheetlets of twelve (two each perf and imperforate), condition is all over the place and the cost bears no relation to real values, for example the 25c Honey Bee Error which catalogs $50.00 was sold to the investor for $1,500, the souvenir balloon covers at $600.00 each, the freak perforated 1c Jefferson coil (retail maybe $5 to $10) for $1,100, the $2.00 Trans-Mississippi (original gum, perfs close to touch) for $4,900 as the "Error in Clouds" variety and so on -- the philatelic equivalent of sub-prime mortgage bonds and credit-default swaps -- this lot should really be used as evidence in the indictment of the source
