3c Green & Gold, Vignette Map of the United States on Thick White Paper, Rouletted (79-E7). Essay by an unknown author depicting a map of the United States with the words "United States" and gold "3" superimposed, borders of the country as they were established in 1867, with remarkable detail depicting mountain ranges, wide margins with the lower right corner slightly closer from trimmingVERY FINE. A BEAUTIFUL AND RARE 1861-67 ISSUE ESSAY.
With 2014 P.F. certificate which shows the lower right margin before it was slightly trimmed
3c Experimental Essay, Metal Die (79-E29x var). 64 x 77mm metal die of this 3c experimental design, with die no. 25868 and "EXPERIMENT No. 1" at top, back of die with unusual cross hatching and other carved elements such as crescents, accompanied by small cardboard envelope that housed the die with example of the design struck in black, cut to shape and mounted on larger black card, the envelope with wear as one would expect from something housing such a heavy metal die, Very Fine and unique, from the American Bank Note Company archives, Scott Catalogue lists this essay, notes it is unique and prices it at $1,000.00, this is the first time this unique die has been offered to the market

3c Rose, C. Grill (83). Original gum with narrow left selvage, clearly-defined grill, brilliant color on bright paperFINE AND SCARCE ORIGINAL-GUM EXAMPLE OF THE 1867 3-CENT C GRILL.
The 3c is the only denomination that comes with the distinctive C Grill, with the grill points facing up instead of down. With 2002 P.S.E. certificate
2c Black, Z. Grill (85B). Unused (regummed), intense shade, Fine, scarce in unused condition, with 1984 P.F. certificate as "original gum"
2c Black, Z. Grill (85B). Unused (no gum), centered to left, light diagonal crease and reperfed at right, still a scarce unused example of this issue, with 2011 P.F. certificate
12c Black, Z. Grill (85E). Gorgeous centering with unusually wide margins all around, intense impression gives the stamp a remarkable depth of shade, clearly-defined grill points, neat target cancelEXTREMELY FINE GEM. AN OUTSTANDING EXAMPLE OF THE SCARCE 1867 12-CENT Z GRILL.
The 12c Z Grill stamps are often quite off-center. The example offered here is a true condition rarity.
Ex Senchuk and Kirke. With 2000 P.F. and 2009 P.S.E. certificates (XF 90; SMQ $7,250.00). Only three examples have been graded higher and this is one of only four to achieve this grade. We are surprised this did not receive a 95 grade.

5c Brown, F. Grill (95). Mint N.H. with some offset on gum from sheet stacking, intense color and impression, Fine, only a small number of No. 95's exist in Mint Never-Hinged condition, with 1992 P.F. certificate, Scott Retail as hinged
5c Brown, F. Grill (95). Disturbed original gum, clear grill, a few gum soaked perfs and reperfed at top (not mentioned on accompanying certificate), appears Fine, with clear 1984 P.F. certificate

24c Gray Lilac, F. Grill (99). Original gum, lightly hinged, rich color and detailed impression, clearly-defined grillVERY FINE. A DESIRABLE ORIGINAL-GUM EXAMPLE OF THE 1868 24-CENT F GRILL.

Clear second grill, one split between top and bottom, cancelled by bold "Hiogo, Japan" double-circle handstamp, bright shade, Fine, a remarkable combination of the rare double grill used in Hiogo, Japan -- each scarce on their own, with 1986 P.F. certificate, Scott Retail as double grill with Japan cancel

The 5c Re-Issue was printed from a new plate of 100 subjects, compared to the original plate of 200 in two panes. The Re-Issue plate can be identified by a notch at bottom. 10,000 stamps were printed (100 impressions). Only 672 of the 5c were sold; the remaining 9,328 were destroyed on July 16, 1884.
Ex "Hanover". With 2005 P.F. and 2005 P.S.E. certificates (latter graded Mint OG, XF-Superb 95; SMQ $11,500.00). Only one has graded higher (at 95J).
5c Brown, Re-Issue (105). Attractively centered, deep rich color on brilliant white paper, bold duplex cancelVERY FINE. A BEAUTIFUL AND RARE USED EXAMPLE OF THE 5-CENT 1861 RE-ISSUE. ONLY 38 USED EXAMPLES ARE RECORDED IN OUR CENSUS.
The 5c Re-Issue was printed from a new plate of 100 subjects, compared to the original plate of 200 in two panes. The Re-Issue plate can be identified by a notch at bottom. 10,000 stamps were printed (100 impressions). Only 672 of the 5c were sold; the remaining 9,328 were destroyed on July 16, 1884.

The 10c Re-Issue was printed from a new plate of 100 subjects, compared to the original plate of 200 in two panes. 10,000 stamps were printed (100 impressions). Only 451 of the 10c were sold; the remaining 9,549 were destroyed on July 16, 1884.
With 1977 and 2014 P.F. certificates (VF-XF 85)
10c Green, Re-Issue (106). Large part disturbed original gum, intense shade and impression, three wide margins, Very Fine, only 451 sold, with 1967 P.F. certificate as "part o.g."
15c Black, Re-Issue (108). Original gum, deep shade and proof-like impression on bright paperVERY FINE ORIGINAL-GUM EXAMPLE OF THE 15-CENT 1861 RE-ISSUE.
The 15c Re-Issue was printed from the original plate of 200 subjects. 10,000 stamps were printed (50 impressions). Only 397 of the 15c were sold; the remaining 9,603 were destroyed on July 16, 1884.
