Complete set (ten total) of top imprint and plate number blocks of twelve, 1c with additional sheet margin at left, 30c and 90c with additional sheet margin at right, large margins other sides, brilliant colors as fresh as the day they were printed, 90c showing clear plate layout lines and vignette shifted noticeably to bottom, absolutely pristineEXTREMELY FINE. Scott Catalogue lists but does not price the plate blocks of the Plate Proofs on Card. They do price the Plate Proofs on India, which are more common, at $29,500.00.

All examples of the 1869 Pictorial Invert proofs come from the sheets in the Earl of Crawford collection. Two sets of blocks of four are known to still survive intact, in addition to the unique imprint and plate number blocks of eight (which sold for $230,000 hammer in the 2009 Cunliffe sale).

It is believed that only 85 Roosevelt albums were produced, from which all known Small Die Proofs on wove originate.

3c Dark Violet, Ty. II, 10-Subject Die Proof on India (502P1). On 154 x 241mm card with full die sinkage, blue "891251" control number and "Apr. 23 1918" on backVERY FINE. AN EXCEEDINGLY RARE DIE PROOF SHOWING THE 10-SUBJECT DIE OF THE 3-CENT TYPE II WASHINGTON ISSUE, SCOTT 502.
In the spring of 1918 the Bureau planned to hasten plate production by using a 10-subject transfer roll. It was, however, necessary to first prepare a 10-subject die. Only four plate numbers were made (8866, 8867, 8868 and 8869), none of which was for booklets. Examples from plate numbers 8866 and 8867 are unreported. Plate numbers 8868 and 8869 went to press on April 16, 1919, and examples are considered to be scarce.
