Intense shade and impression, unusually choice centering for this difficult issue, neat strike of circular datestamp and also red "19" handstamp at lower rightEXTREMELY FINE GEM. A SUPERB EXAMPLE OF THE 12-CENT 1857 ISSUE FROM PLATE 1. A DIFFICULT STAMP TO FIND IN SUCH SUPERB CONDITION.
With 2006 P.S.E. certificate (XF-Superb 95; SMQ $2,900.00). Only three have graded higher to date and only eleven others share this grade.
12c Black, Plate 3 (36B). Block of four with selvage at bottom, original gum, h.r. in selvage, bright shade, vertical crease affects right stamps, light diagonal crease top left, Fine appearance, an attractive bottom selvage block, with 2010 P.F. certificate

30c Orange (38). Original gum, lightly hinged, vivid color, gorgeous centering with wide and balanced marginsEXTREMELY FINE GEM. A SUPERB ORIGINAL-GUM EXAMPLE OF THE 30-CENT 1860 ISSUE WHICH HAS BEEN GRADED XF-SUPERB 95 BY P.S.E. -- THE HIGHEST GRADE AWARDED TO DATE.

30c Orange (38). Original gum, vibrant color, unusually wide margins for this narrow-spaced issueVERY FINE AND CHOICE ORIGINAL-GUM EXAMPLE OF THE 30-CENT 1860 ISSUE.
With 2000 P.F. certificate
30c Orange (38). Unused (no gum), barely noticeable tiny tear at top resulting from a pulled perf, otherwise Fine, with 1997 P.F. certificate
30c Orange (38). Rich color, remarkably wide margins clear of design all around, perfectly struck red grid cancel, Extremely Fine, an exceptional stamp, with 2004 P.F. certificate
30c Orange (38). Perfs scissors-separated causing some short, bright color beautifully complemented by blue "Wells, Fargo & Cos. Express 21 Sep." double-circle datestamp, Fine appearance, with 1979 P.F. certificate which notes "genuine with defects", we do not see any defects other than the perfs
30c Orange (38). Three, first original gum, reperfed at left, Very Fine appearance, second brilliant color, red grid cancel of New York, reperfed at right, Extremely Fine appearance, last tied by bold Philadelphia octagonal datestamp on small piece, Fine, each accompanied by P.F. certificate
