10c Black (2). Original gum, appears to us to be almost full and intact but described by P.F. as "redistributed part original gum", large margins to clear at bottom left, beautiful impression on fresh paper, two small thin spots at top and a minute surface scuff to the left of Washington's mouthVERY FINE APPEARANCE. AN EXTREMELY RARE EXAMPLE OF THE 10-CENT 1847 ISSUE WITH ORIGINAL GUM.
This is an unusually fresh and attractive example of the 10c 1847 Issue, which is a great rarity in original-gum condition. The tiny flaws do not detract from this stamp's appearance, but they will make it more affordable.

As an indication of the rarity of 10c 1847 multiples larger than a pair, Scott assigns a value of $3,000 for a pair, but $10,500 for the strip of three. Pairs or two singles would often be used on double 10c rate covers, but strips of three, blocks of four or other large multiples were infrequently used.

Position 41R1, clearly shows doubling of left and bottom framelines, also partial doubling of right frameline and top left arm of the "X" at bottom right, large balanced margins, tied on piece by dark blue "Troy N.Y. Mar. 25" circular datestamp and matching circular gridEXTREMELY FINE. A MAGNIFICENT EXAMPLE OF THIS RARE 10-CENT 1847 DOUBLE TRANSFER.
