2c Carmine Lake, Ty. I (249). Mint N.H., beautiful dark shade and proof-like impression, well-centered with extra wide marginsEXTREMELY FINE GEM. A SUPERB MINT NEVER-HINGED EXAMPLE OF THE UNWATERMARKED 2-CENT TYPE I ISSUE IN THE CARMINE LAKE SHADE.
With 2003 P.F. and 2005 P.S.E. certificates (XF-Superb 95; SMQ $4,200.00). Only one stamp has achieved a higher grade in the P.S.E. population report.
2c Carmine Lake, Ty. I (249). Mint N.H., radiant color, Jumbo margins, fresh and Extremely Fine, with 1998 P.F. and 2006 P.S.E. certificates (VF-XF 85 Jumbo; SMQ $800.00 as 85, $1,550.00 as 90)
4c Dark Brown (254). Mint N.H., unusually deep rich color and proof-like impression, well-proportioned margins, fresh and Extremely Fine, with 1992 and 2006 P.F. certificates (XF 90; SMQ $1,450.00)
50c Orange (260). Mint N.H., uncharacteristically choice centering, vivid bright colorEXTREMELY FINE MINT NEVER-HINGED EXAMPLE OF THE 1894 50-CENT UNWATERMARKED BUREAU ISSUE. SURPRISINGLY DIFFICULT TO FIND IN SUCH CHOICE MINT NEVER-HINGED CONDITION.

50c Orange (260). Original gum, perfectly framed with enormous even margins all around, brilliant color and sharp impressionEXTREMELY FINE GEM. A SUPERB JUMBO EXAMPLE OF THE 50-CENT 1894 UNWATERMARKED BUREAU ISSUE. A FANTASTIC STAMP.
The stamp offered here has huge margins and centering comparable to the example offered in our Sale 829 (lot 582). That stamp, which was in Mint N.H. condition, realized $17,000 hammer.

THIS MASSIVE ORIGINAL-GUM EXAMPLE OF THE $1.00 TYPE I UNWATERMARKED BUREAU ISSUE HAS BEEN GRADED SUPERB 98 JUMBO BY PROFESSIONAL STAMP EXPERTS. THIS IS THE HIGHEST GRADE AWARDED TO DATE.
P.S.E. encapsulated (Superb 98 Jumbo; SMQ $6,750.00 as 98). Only this stamp and one Mint N.H. example have been awarded this high grade to date.
$1.00 Black (261). Original gum, single hinge mark at top, perfectly centered with massive margins all around, bright shade and detailed impressionEXTREMELY FINE GEM. A MAGNIFICENT ORIGINAL-GUM EXAMPLE OF THE $1.00 TYPE I UNWATERMARKED BUREAU ISSUE. A STAMP OF TRULY MASSIVE PROPORTIONS.
