Registered Jan. 12, 1909" circular datestamp on cigar company corner card cover to Ostrau, Austria, registered datestamp repeated on back along with additional New York Jan. 12 ovals and receiving datestamp, 4c with light diagonal crease and 3c with tiny tear at top, Very Fine, the earliest known use of Scott 334, with clear 1998 A.P.S. certificate

Sale 1283, Lot 1576, 1909 Period13c Blue Green (339). Tied by oval registry cancel with purple "Utica N.Y. Registered Sep. 15, 1909" double-circle datestamp on European-size dark green cover to "Jerusalem (Palestine)", New York registry label, addressed to the Chief Rabbi, Central Committee Knesseth, New York registry backstamps and Jerusalem arrival backstamp, expertly repaired along right edge and sealed tear at center, Very Fine and rare use in terms of both the destination at this point in time and the solo use of the 13c Scott 339 -- the 8c registry fee was raised to 10c two months after this was sent so a solo use of the 13c stamp (8c registry + 5c UPU) was appropriate for only a short period

Used with 8c Olive Green (337) and two each 10c Yellow (338) and 15c Pale Ultramarine (340), tied by multiple strikes of Philadelphia "PD" oval handstamp with purple "Philadelphia Pa. Registered Oct. 21, 1909" circular datestamp on large wrapper front with complete address to Chicago Ill., 50c with corner crease and one 10c creased from a fold, edges of wrapper roughly separated, still an appealing and extremely rare use -- the earliest known use of Scott 341, the Scott Catalogue specifically notes this wrapper front and states the earliest known use for a full cover is June 2, 1916 -- more than six and a half years later, with 2013 A.P.S. certificate, Scott value for No. 341 on cover is $5,000.00
