Horizontal block of six, huge margins to just in at bottom, including portions of adjoining stamps at top, also large at sides, bright color, grid cancels and part of French transit at bottom, horizontal creases thru top row and between rows, the top stamps are Extremely Fine appearance, overall an attractive multiple, with 2011 P.S.E. certificate, Scott value as a block and a pair without premium for the foreign cancel
3c Dull Red, Ty. II (11A). Block of four, bright color, full margins to touched in a couple places, central strike of dark blue "Sunbury Pa. Jan. 23" circular datestamp, Very Fine, a lovely block with a dark blue cancel, with 2002 P.F. certificate
3c Dull Red, Ty. I, Chicago Perf 12-1/2 (11 var). Position 40L7, scissors-separated at right with intact perforations, huge margin at left with portion of adjoining stamp, full perfs at top and bottom, creases and "natural paper fold" noted on accompanying certificate, Fine appearing and certainly the largest Chicago Perf stamp we have encountered, with 1978 P.F. certificate
3c Dull Red, Ty. I, Chicago Perf 12-1/2 (11 var). Plate 6 or 7, scissors separated with perfs trimmed at top and right, Very Good, an acceptable example in sound condition, most examples have varying degrees of faults, with 1986 P.F. certificate
5c Red Brown (12). Traces of original gum, huge margins all around including bottom sheet margin, rich color, few faults including vertical crease and soilingEXTREMELY FINE APPEARANCE. A RARE BOTTOM SHEET-MARGIN EXAMPLE OF THE 5-CENT 1856 ISSUE IN UNUSED CONDITION.
This issue is extremely difficult to obtain in unused condition with four margins. This is the only unused sheet margin example we have encountered. Accompanied by typed note to which this was once affixed reading "This 5c stamp has been kept by Martin V. Ewbanks, a private in Co. "H" 21st Reg't, Ind. Vol. Inft'y ever since he was discarges July 31st 1864".
With 2001 A.P.S. certificate. Scott value as original gum $30,000.00, as without gum
5c Red Brown (12). Full margins all around, wonderful depth of color complemented by bright red New York Dec. 10 circular datestamp cancel, Extremely Fine, a lovely 5c 1856 imperforate with a complementary red cancel, with 1970, 1995 and 2006 P.F. certificates
5c Red Brown (12). Rich color, full margins all around, light blue cancel, tiny corner crease not mentioned on accompanying certificate, appears Extremely Fine, with 2013 A.P.S. certificate
