Jan. 21, 1862" circular datestamp on bright yellow cover with "Salmons & Simmons, Dealers in Staple & Fancy Goods" etc. green embossed cameo corner card, beautiful ornate design matching the color of the stamp, addressed to Griffin Ga., reduced at right not affecting stamp or postmark, Very Fine, this correspondence is known for beautiful covers, the near exact mate to this cover, dated the following month, realized $22,000 hammer in our 2019 Rarities sale, though it was admittedly in the most superb condition possible for a Confederate cover (or for that matter any 1860s cover)
