3c Brown Rose, First Design (56). Mint N.H., deep rich color on bright paper, Very Fine and choice, with 2014 P.F. certificate, Scott Retail as hinged
1c Blue (63). Radiant color nicely complemented by blue "Cincinnati O. Jun. 16" circular datestamp, perfectly centered with wide margins all around, Extremely Fine Gem, a pretty stamp, with 2014 P.S.E. certificate
1c Dark Blue (63b). Deep shade and detailed impression, choice centering, unobtrusive strike of "Providence R.I. Sep. 2, 1861" double-circle datestamp, Extremely Fine, Don Evans notes in his book on the 1c 1861 Issue (p. 33) that the Dark Blue shade is very close to Indigo shade used for the "Premiere Gravure" (Scott No. 55) and in fact he believed that this should be the formal designated color name for this shade
3c Rose Pink (64b). Warm shade nicely complemented by blue grid cancel, gorgeous centering, fresh and Extremely Fine, a beautiful stamp
3c Rose, Vertical Pair, Imperforate Horizontally (65d). Top sheet margin vertical pair, unused (no gum), large margin at bottom, choice centering, rich colorEXTREMELY FINE. A GORGEOUS PAIR OF THE 3-CENT 1861 ISSUE IMPERFORATE HORIZONTALLY. ESPECIALLY DESIRABLE WITH THE TOP SHEET MARGIN.
The number of 3c 1861's released imperforate horizontally is not known, but they are very rare in any form. The multiples come with and without original gum. The last examples we offered were in our 2009 sale of the Alan Whitman collection.

3c Lake (66). Original gum, lightly hinged, bright shade, reperfed at right (but not noted as such on P.F. certificate), Fine appearance, with 2006 P.F. certificate
5c Buff (67). Unused (no gum), radiant color and crisp impression, choice centering for this difficult issue, couple nibbed or short perfs at lower rightEXTREMELY FINE CENTERING. A BEAUTIFUL UNUSED EXAMPLE OF THE 1861 5-CENT BUFF THAT WOULD MAKE THE IDEAL ACQUISITION FOR A COLLECTOR CONCERNED ABOUT CENTERING AND APPEARANCE, RATHER THAN GUM.

Unlike many of the 5c 1861's offered today, this wonderful example of the Brown Yellow retains its original color, having been kept in a dark vault for more than a half century.
5c Brown Yellow (67a). Perfectly centered, bright pastel shade, neat strike of town circular datestampEXTREMELY FINE GEM. WITHOUT QUESTION ONE OF THE FINEST USED EXAMPLES OF THE 1861 5-CENT BROWN YELLOW IN EXISTENCE. A REMARKABLE STAMP AND TRULY RARE IN THIS SUPERB CONDITION.
The town datestamp on this 5c Brown Yellow is very unusual -- most examples come with cancellations from the larger post offices (Boston, New York, etc.)

24c Brown Lilac (70a). Well-proportioned margins, intense purplish shade and impression, face-free strike of "Paid" in oval cancel, Extremely Fine, a pretty stamp, ex Koppersmith, with 1987 and 1992 P.F. certificates as 70a, but we think it is Scott 70
