Position 9R1E, clear to large margins incl. part of adjoining stamp at bottom, magnificent color and impression, neat three-line manuscript cancel, accompanying 1985 P.F. certificate states "thinned" (actually a small thin spot), Very Fine appearance, difficult stamp to find with four margins
1c Blue, Ty. Ia (6). Position 98R4, large margins to ample, bright color, bold manuscript cancel which has caused a small internal break in the paperVERY FINE APPEARING EXAMPLE OF THE ONE-CENT 1851 TYPE Ia -- A STAMP MISSING FROM MANY ADVANCED UNITED STATES COLLECTIONS.
With 1961 P.F. certificate which does not mention the paper break
1c Blue, Ty. II (7). Plate 2, B Relief, large to huge margins, wonderful color and proof like impression, faintly cancelled by blue town circular datestamp, Extremely Fine, a lovely stamp
1c Blue, Ty. II (7). Position 23R2, full to large margins all around, intense color, neat circular datestamp and tiny bit of red transit, Extremely Fine, with 2011 P.F. certificate (XF 90)
1c Blue, Ty. III (8). Position 59L4, ample to large margins, rich color, manuscript "X" cancel, horizontal crease, Very Fine appearance, with 1981 P.F. certificate
1c Blue, Ty. III (8). Horizontal pair, right stamp with small break at bottom, left stamp wide breaks at top and bottom, cancelled by Plymouth circular datestamp (probably Maine), tears at top, otherwise Fine-Very Fine
1c Blue, Ty. III/IIIA (8/8A). Vertical pair, Positions 40/50R4, top stamp Type III, bottom stamp Type IIIA, large margins to barely in at top with part imprint along both stamps at right, deep rich color on bright paper, light strikes of circular datestamp leave design clearly visibleVERY FINE COMBINATION PAIR OF TYPE III AND IIIa FROM PLATE 4. THIS IS EXTREMELY DIFFICULT TO FIND WITH ANY TRACE OF THE IMPRINT. THE BOTTOM STAMP IS ESPECIALLY CHOICE.
The Neinken book states, "Stamps from Plate 4 showing part of the imprint are very rare." Looking at the layout of Plate 4 (Neinken book, page 263), the imprint position types are as follows: left pane 31/41L Type IIIa, 51L Type IIIa-III, 61L Type III; right pane 40R Type III, 50/60R Type IIIa, 70R Type III. Therefore, only Positions 61L, 40R and 70R4 are Type III imprint positions (51L is a "swing" position with a smaller break).
With 2011 P.S.E. certificate (VF 80; unpriced as a multiple in SMQ)

1c Blue, Ty. IIIa (8A). Position 75L1E, margins all around to touched at bottom, beautiful Plate One Early color, neat grid cancel, Fine and attractive, with 2006 P.S.E. certificate
1c Blue, Ty. IV (9). Recut once at top and twice at bottom, huge margins to full incl. significant portion of adjoining stamps at sides, deep rich color, neat strike of circular datestamp, Extremely Fine Gem, with 1985 P.F. and 2004 P.S.E. certificates (XF-Superb 95; SMQ $675.00)
1c Blue, Ty. IV (9). Horizontal pair, left stamp recut once at top and twice at bottom, right stamp recut once at top and bottom, full to large margins, neat strike of New York duplex cancel, Extremely Fine, a lovely pair, with 2011 P.S.A.G. certificate (XF 90)
W. Wilson Hulme Color Study of the Orange Brown 3c 1851 Issue (10-10A, 11A var). Mounted on typed index cards, arranged by plate with sub-shades identified, comprising Nos. 10/10A from Plates 1E (four), 1i (four), 2E (three), 5E (three), 0 (one), and four stamps and a cover in the Experimental Orange Brown shades from Plate 1L (Scott 11A), the quality of the stamps is better than often seen in color studies with only one pen cancel, margins clear to slightly in, the colors are vibrant and provide a fascinating contrast when seen together, a choice color study, Scott Retail as all normal Orange Brown and Experimental Orange Brown
3c Orange Brown, Ty. II (10A). Position 60L0, large margins to full, brilliant color nicely complemented by blue Apalachicola Fl. circular datestamp, fresh and Extremely Fine, with 2011 P.F. certificate

W. Wilson Hulme Color Study of 3c 1851 Issue by Year (11-11A). Mounted on three typed index cards, first with four stamps and a cover in the late 1851 Experimental Orange Brown shades from Plate 1L (Scott 11A), other two cards trace the Brownish Carmine, Claret and Red shades from 1852-57 (11-11A), only one pen cancel in the group, some with margins slightly in and few small flaws but overall attractive appearance with vibrant shades
3c 1856 Plate 5 Orange Brown, Ty. II (11A var). Position 4L5L, vibrant shade which is distinctly different from the late 1851 Plate 1L Experimental Orange Brown, ample to clear margins, face-free strike of blue town datestamp, Fine and scarce shade variety, unlisted in Scott, with 2012 P.F. certificate
3c Dull Red, Ty. II (11A). Block of 15, unused (no gum), large margins to in, few flaws to be expected in such a large multiple incl. few pinholes and stains, otherwise Fine-Very Fine, scarce large multiple, Scott Retail as no gum singles
3c Dull Red, Ty. II (11A). Position 61R3 with left interpane margin, large to full margins other sides, rich color, clear strike of blue "Paid" in 6-bar grid and circle cancel of Jewett City Conn., Extremely Fine, a beautiful and choice stamp with the scarce Jewett City "Paid" handstamp, Simpson-Alexander rarity 7, with 1993 P.S.E. and 2011 P.F. certificates
3c Claret, Ty. II, Plate Crack (11A var). Position 94L5L, sheet margin at bottom and deep rich color combine to dramatically highlight the plate crack, complemented by a neat strike of magenta "5" in circle handstamp cancel, Very Fine and choice, a beautiful example of this major plate crack position, ex Wagshal, with 2010 P.F. certificate
3c Plum, Ty. II (11A var). Possibly Position 96R6, three large margins, in at top, stitch watermark, light strike of circular datestamp, Fine example of this scarce shade, with 2012 P.F. certificate
5c Red Brown (12). Full to large margins, marvelous deep rich color on bright white paper, light unobtrusive circular datestamp, Very Fine, with 1996 P.F. certificate
5c Red Brown (12). Ample to large margins, face-free French double-circle transit cancel (no U.S. marking), Very Fine, desirable cancelled solely by the French handstamp, with 1975 P.F. certificate
5c Red Brown (12). Horizontal pair, large to huge margins, wonderful color and sharp impression, neat New Orleans La. circular datestamp, the right stamp essentially face-free, faint creases, Extremely Fine appearance, handsome pair, ex Emerson
10c Green, Ty. I (13). Large to massive margins incl. full bottom sheet margin, excellent color and impression, light strike of brownish-red town datestamp, light crease at bottom, Extremely Fine appearance, while the 10c Type I stamps come only from the bottom row of the plate, the sheet margin was normally trimmed and it is unusual to find an example with the bottom sheet margin, with 1980 P.F. certificate
10c Green, Ty. II (14). Horizontal strip of three, clear to large margins including sheet margin at left, right stamp showing misalignment (entered lower than the other two stamps), rich color, clear strikes of San Francisco circular datestamp, tiny scissors-cut at bottom entirely between middle and right stamps, Very Fine and choice
10c Green, Ty. III (15). Huge margins all around incl. sheet margin at left and part of adjoining stamp at right, lightly cancelled leaving entire design clearly visible, Extremely Fine Gem, with 2012 P.S.E. certificate (Superb 98 Jumbo; unpriced in SMQ above the grade of 98, SMQ $1,300.00 as 98), only three have graded higher to date (all at 100) and only three others share this grade
10c Dark Green, Ty. III (15). Large to huge margins incl. part of adjoining stamps at bottom and right, intense color, bold grid cancel at right edge leaving the vignette clearly visible, Extremely Fine, a beautiful stamp
12c Black (17). Original gum, margins to clear, intense shade, Fine and attractive example of the 12c 1851 Issue, scarce with original gum, with 1977 P.F. certificate
12c Black (17). Large part original gum, margins to clear, small vertical tear at top, faintly toned at top, otherwise Fine, scarce, with 2009 P.F. certificate
12c Black (17). Horizontal pair, Positions 79-80R1, left stamp showing double transfer in lettering of "TWELVE", full margins to barely touching at bottom corners, Fine, also incl. No. 15 with large margins and lightened manuscript cancel
