May 12" credit datestamp on blue folded 1867 cover to Palermo, Sicily, red crayon "36" credit crossed out and re-credited "54", blurry strike of French transit datestamp and red "PD" boxed handstamps, transit and receiving backstamps, light file folds, Fine, an unusual French mail use, the New York "54" indicates a credit for the triple 21c rate, the sender perhaps intended to overpay the cover for a quadruple rate (84c) but ended up overpaying the triple rate by 27c
