90c Interior (O24). Brilliant color, choice centering with Jumbo margins, neat strike of grid cancel, fresh and Extremely Fine, with 2011 P.S.E. certificate (XF 90 Jumbo; SMQ $120.00 as 90, $270.00 as 95), only one has graded higher to date and this is the only example to achieve this grade
15c Navy (O42). Original gum, small h.r., brilliant color on bright paper, well-balanced margins, tiny natural inclusion, Extremely Fine, a pretty stamp
30c Navy (O44). Original gum, lightly hinged, attractive margins and lovely color, Very Fine, with 2011 P.S.E. certificate
30c Navy (O44). Rich color on bright paper, Jumbo margins, neat strike of duplex cancel, Very Fine and choice, with 2011 P.S.E. certificate (VF 80 Jumbo; SMQ $45.00 as 80, $75.00 as 85)
3c Post Office (O49). Two panes of 100, one from left side of the sheet with imprint and plate no. 41 at top and bottom and natural s.e. at right, other from right side of the sheet and with imprint and plate no. 30 at top and bottom and natural s.e. at left, virtually all Mint N.H., distinctly different shades with former Gray Black and latter Black, few flaws to be expected with a few more on the right pane with one row of telescoped perfs, one row with crease and five or six with adherences, otherwise Very Good-Very Fine, Scott Retail approximately
90c Post Office (O56). Bottom half sheet of 50 with imprint and plate no. 88 at bottom and selvage at left, unused (no gum), defective incl. seventh vertical row separated and s.e., and reattached, otherwise Very Good-Fine, scarce multiple, also incl. block of 25 of 12c Post Office with original gum and some faults
6c State (O60). Blocks of 20 and 30 rejoined to form the original block of 50, selvage on three sides incl. imprint and plate no. 83 at top, also clearly showing the plate scratch between Positions 26 and 27 and plate damage between Position 9 and 10, also shows foreign entry of 6c Executive on Position 41, original gum, some Mint N.H., single horizontal crease affects selvage, another horizontal crease affects bottom rowFINE APPEARANCE. THIS IS THE LARGEST RECORDED MULTIPLE OF THE 6-CENT STATE DEPARTMENT ISSUE. A REMARKABLE MULTIPLE FROM THE TOP HALF OF THE PANE, WITH IMPRINT AND PLATE NUMBER AND ALSO SHOWING A FOREIGN ENTRY OF THE 6-CENT EXECUTIVE, PLATE SCRATCHES AND PLATE DAMAGE.
The previously largest-recorded multiple of the 6c State Dept. is a block of 20 in Les Lanphear's collection, which comes from the lower left corner of the sheet. It does not contain the full imprint and plate number. The foreign entry of the 6c Executive is known on Position 41 and 91. The multiple offered here was buried in an old-time holding until recently unearthed.

1c-$20.00 State, Plate Proofs on India (O57P3-O71P3). Complete set, bright colors, full margins with only one lower value touched one one side, few with tiny toned spots or small India paper flaws as usually encountered, Very Fine appearance, with 1982 Siegel Auctions certificate signed by Walter Mader
$2.00 State (O68). Part original gum, choice centering and wide margins, rich color and impression, small pink spot on perf at upper left and short perf at lower left, printer's ink spot on "D" of "Dollars", otherwise Extremely Fine, a very attractive example of this scarce State Dept. dollar value
$5.00 State (O69). Cancelled by unusually light face-free strike of cut cork cancel, choice centering, expertly repaired small tears and thins along bottom perfsVERY FINE APPEARANCE. MOST OF THE FEW KNOWN GENUINELY USED EXAMPLES OF THE $5.00 STATE DEPARTMENT STAMP HAVE FAULTS TO A GREATER OR LESSER DEGREE. THIS IS ONE OF THE MOST ATTRACTIVE IN TERMS OF CENTERING AND CANCELLATION.

THIS REMARKABLE INTACT SHEET OF 100 OF THE 1873 90-CENT WAR DEPARTMENT OFFICIAL ISSUE IS NO DOUBT UNIQUE. A PHENOMENAL RARITY OF THE HIGHEST ORDER.
The War Department Officials were printed in sheets of 100. The Lobdell Collection contained sheets of the 15c, 24c and 30c, but none of the highest denomination. This sheet has been buried in an old-time holding. Scott Retail approximately

24c Interior, Soft Paper (O103). Original gum, lightly hinged, large foldover after gumming and before perforating creates freakish perfs in corner selvage, perfs in other sides, Very Good, a striking variety of a rare stamp, with 2004 P.F. certificate
90c Treasury, Soft Paper (O113). Rich color, light strike of quartered cork cancel, Fine, a surprising difficult issue to obtain in sound used condition, Power Search contains only one other single in any condition, with 2011 P.S.E. certificate, very undercatalogued in Scott
3c War, Soft Paper, "Kiss" Impression, AKA Double Impression (O116 var). Unused (no gum), a second impression dramatically shifted apart from the first, attractively centered and fresh color, while we and several other experts believe this is the true 3c War Department Double Impression, the Philatelic Foundation has certified the stamp as a "Kiss Impression", from the Lobdell estate and ex Markovits as a Double Impression, with 2011 P.F. certificate, Scott Retail as Double Impression $6,500.00
