Paid 7 Jun. 16" credit datestamp, red framed "Aachen 30/6 Franco" transit datestamp, scissors-cut between right stamps in strip, few flaws incl. scotch tape mends inside, appears Fine, unusual use, the Prussian Closed Mail rate was only 30c, but the sender in Wisconsin might have been confused about how much to prepay, ex Gibson and Mayer, with 1982 P.F. certificate

Lyne, U.S. Sloop of War Cyane, Aspinwall, ms. "Per Steamer Illinois of the 5th inst." at bottom left, pencil receipt docketing at top enhanced with pen, couple minor cover tears, otherwise Very Fine, a fascinating use which overpays by 3c the American Packet rate to Aspinwall, the reason for the additional stamp unclear, with 1968 P.F. certificate

"8" decimes due marking, appropriate French transits, Very Fine, an attractive cover, carried aboard the Collins Line's Atlantic, illustrated in Chronicle No. 55 on p. 70.
