CUBA, U. S. Administration. Small collection of 44 used and unused stamps, starts with 27 virtually all different "Puerto Principe" surcharges (1951 P.F. certificate for No. 197), someone prior to us has examined these stamps and listed his opinion as to genuine or not, we essentially concur with his findings, as such, the percentage of the nearly $6,000.00 Scott Retail that is genuine is about 12%, this is not to say that another expert will not find additional value in genuine stamps currently considered not genuine (the others would make suitable spacefillers), these surcharges are among the most challenging in all of philately, also incl. are 17 of the 18 1899 Issue (less No. 226A), generally Fine-Very Fine for these, offered as is

RYUKYU ISLANDS, Provisional Issues. Small collection on pages, incl. Amami (five), Miyako (34, also few duplicates), Okinawa (two) and Yaeyama (two plus two duplicates), we feel that the vast majority of these have genuine overprints but we have reservations regarding the genuineness of a few, a number with no gum or tropical gum and with interleaving paper affixed to the backs which is often the case with these Provisional issues (the latter two conditions being a plus sign when trying to expertise), scarce material and not often seen at auction, offered as is
