1c Blue, Ty. I (18). Straddle margin with full guideline at right, radiant color, neat strike of blue grid cancel, Very Fine

Manually separated by scissors at sides because of dramatically misaligned vertical perforations, cut apart with full margins at the sides, exceptionally well-centered horizontally as well, rich plate 4 color, tied on piece by partly clear "U.S. Mail City Delivery" double-circle datestamp, three line "U.S. Mail 1 P.M. 1c Blue, Ty. III (21). Plate 12, deep rich color on fresh paper, unusually choice centering for this difficult issue, unobtrusive circular datestampEXTREMELY FINE. A LOVELY EXAMPLE OF THE 1857 ONE-CENT TYPE III, WHICH CLEARLY SHOWS THE CHARACTERISTICS OF THE TYPE.
Perforated 1c Type III stamps usually come from Plate 4. Only a few positions on Plate 12 developed broken lines at top and bottom as a result of plate wear. This stamp, with the relief dot at the left of the oval, definitely comes from Plate 12, but we are unable to plate it precisely.

1c Blue, Ty. III (21). Plate 4, well-centered, bright color, face-free cancel, repaired margin faults top left and top right, Extremely Fine appearance, with 2003 P.S.E. certificate (Good 30; SMQ $495.00)
1c Blue, Ty. IIIa (22). Plate 11 or 12, exceptionally wide margins and beautifully centered, light New York Ocean Mail circular datestamp, Extremely Fine, with 2006 P.F. certificate (VF-XF 85)
1c Blue, Ty. IV (23). Recut once at top and once at bottom, lightly cancelled, deep rich color on bright paper, Very Fine and choice, with 1993 P.F. certificate for pair and 2006 P.S.E. certificate (F-VF 75; SMQ $380.00 as 70, $760.00 as 80)
1c Blue, Ty. IV, Triple Transfer, One Inverted (23 var). Position 71L1L, recut twice at top and once at bottom, rich color, unobtrusive cancelFINE. ONE OF ONLY FOUR POSITIONS ON THIS ONE-CENT PLATE RECUT TWICE AT TOP AND ONCE AT BOTTOM, AND THE ONLY ONE OF THE FOUR WHICH IS A TRIPLE TRANSFER, ONE INVERTED. THIS VARIETY IS SIGNIFICANTLY RARER IN PERFORATED FORM.

1c Blue, Ty. IV (23). Vertical pair, deep rich color on bright paper, neat strikes of circular datestamp, light pressed-out vertical crease, appears Fine, with 1984 P.F. certificate

Positions 23/33/43L1L, vertical strip of three, deep rich color, neat strikes of Saratoga Springs circular datestamp, some slight toning on top and bottom stamps, otherwise Very Fine, a rare and attractive multiple of this Plate 1 Late perforated stamp, ex Caspary and Ishikawa, with 2002 P.F. certificate
1c Blue, Ty. V (24). Horizontal strip of three with part imprint at left, original gum, barest trace of what may be hinging (appear Mint N.H.), deep rich color, center stamp single perf tip with light soiling, otherwise Very Fine, Scott Retail with no premium for the part imprint
3c Rose, Ty. I (25). Part original gum, well-centered for this tightly-spaced issue, soiling at top, some perf tip gum soaks, otherwise Very Fine
3c Rose, Ty. I (25). Unused (no gum), rich color, usual centering for this tightly-spaced issue, Fine, with 2007 P.S.E. certificate
3c Rose, Ty. I, "Recut Bust" (25 var). Position 47R6, clear recut of lines on bust and bottom of medallion circle, bright shade, margins clear to just in at bottom, grid cancel, Fine and attractive example of this scarce recut variety, plated by Dr. Amonette
3c Rose, Ty. I, Major Plate Crack (25 var). Positions 47R7 and 48R7, together demonstrating the crack that extended from the upper right of the first to the upper left of the second, one with couple shortish perfs, Fine examples of this dramatic variety, also incl. Pos. 47R7-48R7 of the imperforate issue showing the positions before the crack developed and two No. 26 (Pos. 2L26) showing the "neck flaw" variety
3c Rose, Ty. I, Major Plate Crack (25 var). Two singles, Positions 47 and 48R7, both have bright colors and cancels which leave the variety clearly visible, together demonstrating the crack that extended from the upper right of the first to the upper left of the second, second with couple shortish perfs, Fine appearing examples of this scarce plate crack, plated by Dr. Chase
3c Rose, Ty. I, II (25, 25A). Four singles and horizontal pair of first and two of second, five of the singles are plated, range of shades, one No. 25 early usage dated "Jul. 27, 1857", Fine-Very Fine, scarce group
3c Dull Red, Ty. III (26). Mint N.H., almost perfectly centered, fresh, attractive color, Extremely Fine, with 2009 P.S.E. certificate (XF 90; SMQ $510.00 as Mint N.H.), Scott Retail as hinged

Position 87R15 with clear double transfer and showing rosettes double and line thru "Postage" and "Three Cents", rich color, wide margins to just in at right, neat circular datestamp, Fine example of this distinctive and scarce variety, plated by Dr. Amonette
3c Dull Red, Ty. IV (26A). Positions 78-80L10i, strip of three, Position 79 the Scott-listed Inner Line Recut at Left, bright color and choice centering for this difficult issue, perfect strikes of blue "Springfield Vt. Jul. 10" circular datestamp, Very Fine and choice, a beautiful strip, plated by Dr. Amonette, Scott Retail for the recut variety and two normal singles
3c Claret, Ty. IV, Double Transfer, Line Through Rosettes (26A var). Six stamps, four from Pos. 61R10L and two from Pos. 98R10i, each showing the Scott-listed Double transfer, Line thru Rosettes, one defective with corner torn, another partially scissor separated, overall Fine, scarce group of this prominent variety which Scott prices at $925.00 each versus $125.00 for the normal stamp
