1c Blue, Ty. II (20). Position 10R4, one of the top-row Plate 4 positions showing the complete design at top and the only double transfer on Plate 4, grid cancel, fresh and Fine, Ashbrook states "The lone double transfer, 10R4, is a very rare stamp, in fact, it ranks among the rarest of double transfers of the one cent 1851-1857. I have seen very few copies, and only one pair, containing 10R4." (Neinken book, p. 270), ex Sheriff, Koppersmith and Saadi, with 1987 and 1992 P.F. certificates
1c Blue, Ty. III (21). Position 78R4, with intact perfs at top, rich color on bright paper, neat strike of Ala. circular datestamp, Very Fine, with 2011 P.S.E. certificate (VF 80)

Position 81L1L, recut once at top, centered far to right with captured sheet margin at left, blue Philadelphia circular datestamp cancel, Very Good example of this scarce position which is very rare as a perforated stamp, we have offered only three others since keeping computerized records in 1993, ex Ishikawa and Saadi, with 1993 P.F. certificate
3c Claret, Ty. I (25). Intense shade and impression, well-struck circular datestamp cancel, balanced margins, Extremely Fine, with 2008 P.F. certificate (XF 90)
3c Dull Red, Ty. III (26). Mint N.H., bright color, unusually choice centering with balanced margins, Extremely Fine Gem, with 2000 P.S.E. certificate (XF-Superb 95), only five grade higher (highest is 98)
3c Dull Red, Ty. III (26). Three used singles from premium plate positions, including Pos. 87R15 double transfer showing rosettes doubled and line thru "Postage" and "Three Cents", Pos. 52L25 five-line recut, Pos. 18L28 "Quadruple Plate Flaw", couple small perf flaws, overall Fine and attractive trio, Scott value $5,000
5c Red Brown (28). Deep rich color, outstanding centering with wide margins which are clear of the outer projections all around, town datestamp
EXTREMELY FINE. A FRESH AND CHOICE USED EXAMPLE OF THE 1857 5-CENT RED BROWN.

5c Indian Red (28A). Warm shade in the true Indian Red color, light strikes of circular datestamp, fresh and Fine, with 2024 P.F. certificate

EXTREMELY FINE GEM. A SUPERB USED EXAMPLE OF THE 1859 5-CENT TYPE I BROWN. A RARE STAMP IN SUCH CHOICE CONDITION.

10c Green, Ty. V (35). Wide margins and well-centered, part captured imprint at right as well as pre-printing paper fold, New Orleans circular datestamp cancel and red "Aachen Franco" handstamp — both struck so that the central vignette is unobscured, Extremely Fine, it would be difficult to find a Scott No. 35 with more interesting features than seen here
12c Black, Plate 3 (36B). Original gum, intense shade and impression, choice centering for this difficult issue, unusual plate scratches at right

24c Gray Lilac (37). Original gum, bright shade, well-centered side-to-side and just touched at bottom, Very Fine, with 1991 P.F. certificate
24c Lilac, Imperforate (37c). Unused (no gum), large margins at sides, clear at top and bottom, Fine, with 1986 P.F. certificate, Scott value as original gum
30c Orange (38). Original gum, well-centered with three full margins, just touched at top, bright color, Very Fine and choice for this, with 1984 (for a block) and 1989 P.F. certificates

The Continental Bank Note Company made a new plate for the 3c 1857 Reprint, consisting of 100 subjects. 10,000 stamps were printed (100 impressions). 479 of the 3c were sold, and the remaining 9,521 were destroyed on July 23, 1884, by order of the Postmaster General.
With 1972 and 1985 P.F. certificates.

The Continental Bank Note Company made a new plate for the 3c 1857 Reprint, consisting of 100 subjects. 10,000 stamps were printed (100 impressions). 479 of the 3c were sold, and the remaining 9,521 were destroyed on July 23, 1884, by order of the Postmaster General.
With 2010 P.S.E. certificate (F-VF 75). SCV $3,000.
5c Orange Brown, Reprint (42). Without gum as issued, unusually choice centering for this difficult issue, brilliant color on bright white paper, Extremely Fine, with 2023 P.S.E. certificate (VF-XF 85), only four examples grade higher, SCV $1,250
12c Greenish Black, Reprint (44). Without gum as issued, unusually well-centered with sharp impression on crisp paper

The Continental Bank Note Company made a new plate for the 12c 1857 Reprint, consisting of 100 subjects, using an original transfer roll. 10,000 stamps were printed (100 impressions). 489 of the 12c were sold, and the remaining 9,511 were destroyed on July 23, 1884, by order of the Postmaster General.
With 2009 P.S.E. certificate (VF-XF 85). This is one of only four to garner this grade with only six higher.

VERY FINE AND CHOICE. A LOVELY EXAMPLE OF THE 30-CENT 1860 REPRINT, WHICH IS ONE OF THE MOST DIFFICULT VALUES TO OBTAIN WITH MARGINS CLEAR OF THE PERFS ALL AROUND.
The Continental Bank Note Company reprinted the 30c stamp from the original plate of 200 subjects. 10,000 were printed (50 impressions). Only 480 were sold; the remaining 9,520 were destroyed on July 23, 1884, by order of the Postmaster General.

30c Yellow Orange, Reprint (46). Without gum as issued, vibrant color, attractive centering and margins
VERY FINE EXAMPLE OF THE 30-CENT 1860 REPRINT. THIS IS ONE OF THE MOST DIFFICULT VALUES TO OBTAIN WITH ANY SEMBLAGE OF GOOD CENTERING.
The Continental Bank Note Company reprinted the 30C stamp from the original plate of 200 subjects. 10,000 were printed (50 impressions). Only 480 were sold; the remaining 9,520 were destroyed on July 23, 1884, by order of the Postmaster General.
