10c Dark Green, First Design (62B). Deep rich color, tied to small blue piece by "New-York Oct. 17" circular datestamp with duplex grid, a few toned perfs at bottom left corner, appears Very Fine, with 2021 P.S.A.G. certificate describing the cancel as "Ocean Mail"
3c Pink (64). Brilliant color, outstanding centering and margins, circular datestamp cancelEXTREMELY FINE. A BEAUTIFUL USED EXAMPLE OF THE 3-CENT 1861 PINK.

3c Rose (65). Bottom imprint and plate no. 11 block of eight, original gum, h.r. including some reinforcing separated perfs, fresh color, two light creases affect the left block of four, Fine appearance, imprint and plate number blocks of the 3c 1861 only come from the bottom of the sheet, as the top and side selvage had no imprint, ex Chapin (no. 199 in his census as a block of twelve) and Gross, Scott value $4,750.00
3c Rose (65). Bottom imprint and plate no. 37 block of 35 (7x5), unused (no gum), only a few separated or reinforced perfs, top left stamp with small toned spot and small spot in the selvage at far right, overall Fine and impressive large plate block, only six plate blocks of plate 37 recorded, ex Chapin (no. 224 in his census) and Gross, Scott value $4,750.00 just for the plate block of eight
10c Dark Green (68a). Original gum, barely hinged at top right, characteristic dark shade of the 10c First Design (62B) but much scarcer as No. 68a, attractive margins, fresh and Fine, with 2004 P.F. certificate
10c Green (68). Well-centered with balanced margins top-to-bottom and side-to-side, rich color, bold strike of negative Star of David fancy cancel of New Haven Conn., beautifully struck with all lines exceptionally clear, Extremely Fine, with 2002 P.F. certificate
5c Brown Yellow (67a). Radiant color, face-free strike of large Boston "PAID" grid cancel, Very Fine, with 1994 P.F. certificate as No. 67
10c Green (68). Rich color, clear strike of New York Horse's Head fancy cancel (Skinner-Eno PA-H13), Very Fine strike of this rare fancy cancel and seldom seen on the 10c 1861, with 2021 P.F. certificate
12c Black (69). Attractive wide margins, cancelled in green, Very Fine, green cancels are scarce on classic stamps and very rare on the 12c 1861 issue, with 2002 and 2013 P.F. certificates
24c Red Lilac (70). Intense color on bright paper, choice centering, grid cancels, Very Fine, 1988 P.F. certificate no longer accompanies
24c Steel Blue (70b). Deep rich color in the true Steel Blue shade, nicely complemented by red grid cancel, Very Fine, with 1997 P.F. certificate
24c Violet, Thin Paper (70c). Beautiful color, attractive margins and centering, neat target cancel, Very Fine, P.F. certificate no. 421293 no longer accompanies
30c 1861-68 Issues (71, 100). 12 used stamps selected for fancy or better cancels, ten are No. 71 and two are No. 100, wonderful range of cancels including well-struck Star of David, other stars, French Anchor in Diamond of Dots, "Hiogo, Japan" (on No. 100), various attractive geometrics, one in red, some flaws to be expected but overall chosen for nice strikes, Fine-Very Fine or appear so, Scott value approximately $5,000.00
90c Pale Blue (72a). Pretty pastel color, wide margins, large bars in open grid cancel, Extremely Fine, a pretty stamp, with 2015 P.F. certificate
90c Blue (72). Horizontal strip of four, bright color, cork cancels, some slight toning along perf holes, Fine-Very Fine appearance, a rare large used multiple, Scott value as two pairs
2c Black (73). Block of eight with "ENGRAVED BY THE NATIONAL BANK NOTE COMPANY CITY OF NEW YORK" imprint and "No. 31 Plate." plate number at bottom, original gum, h.r. (certificate states "part o.g."), crisp impression, some perf separation rejoined, particularly in the left vertical rowFINE. AN EXTREMELY RARE IMPRINT AND PLATE NUMBER BLOCK OF THE 1863 2-CENT BLACK JACK ISSUE.
Fourteen full plate blocks are recorded in the Chapin census, but very few have been offered on the market. Including the plate block offered in this sale, Power Search located only four others offered in our auctions since 1994 and all of our Rarities sales. Plate 31 is especially rare, as only three full plate blocks are recorded in the Chapin census.

2c Black, Laid Paper (73g). Showing clear horizontal laid lines easily visible from the front, natural straight edge at left, well-centered, lightened manuscript cancelVERY FINE APPEARANCE. THE 2-CENT ON LAID PAPER IS ONE OF THE RAREST BLACK JACK VARIETIES. ONLY SIX COPIES ARE CONTAINED IN OUR RECORDS.
The 2c Black Jack on laid paper is one of the rarest production varieties (as opposed to a plate variety). The other rare Scott-listed variety is the printed on both sides. Our census of this variety, available at our website at https://siegelauctions.com/census/us/scott/73g , records just six used copies and no unused.

5c Brown (76). Bright color nicely contrasted by red "Fulton Bank Jun. 29, 1862" revenue cancel, Very Fine and unusual, a Scott no. 76 from the Drucker collection (Sale 851, lot 86) had this cancel struck in exactly the same orientation, with 2003 P.F. certificate
Horse's Head Fancy Cancels. Group of four stamps and two covers, nice diverse range including two off-cover No. 65 with Knoxville Ten. Horse's Heads (Skinner-Eno PA-H3 and PA-H1, latter faulty), No. 76 with New York Horse's Head (Skinner-Eno PA-H13, 2009 P.F. certificate), No. 220 with Horse's Head or possibly a Mule, covers including No. 94a tied by Knoxville Ten. circular datestamp and Horse's Head (Skinner-Eno PA-H4, 2016 P.F. certificate), finally No. 206 on cover tied by Northampton Mass. Horse's Head (1993 A.P.S. certificate), overall decent strikes and an attractive group
24c Dark Lilac (78 var). Choice centering with well-balanced margins, deep rich color on bright paper, neat strike of cork cancel, Very Fine and choice example of this sub-shade, ex "J & J" collection, P.F. certificate no. 160961 no longer accompanies
24c Grayish Lilac (78a). Vertical pair, bright color, open grid cancels, Very Fine, with 2000 P.F. certificate, Scott value as singles
