1c Blue, Type II, Plate 3 (7). Position 30R3, unused (no gum), double transfer, sheet margin at right, other sides clear to barely touched, small corner crease at top right, Very Fine appearance, with 2009 P.F. certificate, unlisted from Plate 3 without gum, Scott value as original gum $2,000.00
1c Blue, Type II, Plate 3 (7). Position 31L3 with huge left sheet margin and "Toppan, Carpe(nter)" portion of imprint, also shows surface cracks, large margins all around, sharp impression in light blue shade, cancelled by unusual "New York Paid" circular datestamp, diagonal crease mostly confined to selvage and visible only in fluid or backlightingEXTREMELY FINE APPEARANCE. A FAMOUS AND EXTRAORDINARY 1851 ONE-CENT PLATE 3 IMPRINT COPY.
This remarkable stamp is illustrated and described in the Neinken book (Fig. 14-D, pages 221-222). Ashbrook described Position 31L3 as "the finest example of these left edge cracks" (Vol. I, page 224).

1c Blue, Type II, Plate 3 (7). Position 41L3, wonderful depth of color, with left sheet margin showing "nter, Casilear & Co. BANK NOTE" portion of imprint and part of "No." portion of plate number, tied by "New-York Oct. 15" circular datestamp on Sep. 19, 1856 market report from Wm. Coleman & Co. San Francisco, includes printed "Per Mail Steamer Sonora" in heading, addressed to Richmond Va., Very Fine, a rare and desirable on-cover example of the 1c 1851 Issue from Plate 3 showing part of the imprint, ex Newbury, Cowitt and Allan Fox

Position 81R3, huge right straddle-pane margin and centerline, clearly showing a portion of Position 90L3 from the adjacent pane, other margins large to barely touched, lightly struck circular datestamp cancel, Very Fine and very rare, since the definition of straddle-pane has been updated and refreshed--a portion of the adjoining pane's stamp must be present or it is an "interpane" margin--the vast majority of 1c 1851 stamps in Power Search described as straddle-pane no longer qualify for that term, very few examples have a large enough margin on the proper side of the stamp to actually show part of the stamp in the adjoining pane, this example is particularly desirable from the elusive Plate 3, ex Cowitt and Allan Fox
1c Blue, Type II, Plate 3 Crack (7). Position 8R3, with major plate crack across Franklin's head, large margins to full at top, circular datestamp cancel, couple faint pressed creases, appears Extremely Fine, a rare example of the Plate 3 crack, ex Emerson and Cowitt, Scott value $825.00

Dec. 8, 1856" circular datestamp on local cover forwarded to Washington D.C., stamp also tied by "FREE" handstamp, light cover scuff at top left, still Fine, probably a unique use from Plate 3, forwarding postage was free as this was sent to a member of Congress
